If you have a large garden and more, you enjoy great freedom of arrangement, and often you don’t know how to organize the space in such a way as to integrate all the pieces you want, but not crowd it unnecessarily. It’s like putting in a swimming pool. Or a rocking chair. Or a flower garden. Since you want to integrate a sculpture into this space, we show you where you can order one that fits your needs.
Stone sculptures for the garden
Although we don’t often think about them or take them into consideration, art and culture are important parts of our lives and the identity of every society. Whether we are talking about the creations of painters or sculptors, everyday life would not have the same course if these two were missing. Sculptors are some of these creators and their contribution to the cultural world is invaluable. But we won’t talk about it Costantino Brancusi OR Hirotoshi Ito. Today we’re talking about how to integrate the works of James Parker, some of the most important creators of the moment, into your garden.

Who is James Parker?
James Parker began working with stone from an early age, four years old to be exact, when he helped his father repair cracks in the dry stone walls around the family farm in Galloway, south-west Scotland. This was the moment he became interested in the craft natural stone which would become his passion and career.
James Parker created his first sculpture in slate in 2007, and in less than a year, around June 2008, he organized the first exhibition of his works. Since then, his career has continued to grow.
Why do you work with natural stone?
James Parker’s artwork is of unprecedented precision, which only denotes the hours of work behind it. James says natural stone, in particular slateit offers a texture that many other materials have no way of reproducing. The layers of stone create depth, relief and the sculptures I create tend to be dignified and communicate with their surroundings, rather than dominate.
«Slate is a wonderfully versatile material to work with. Nature offers an incredible palette with a multitude of colors and textures, from blue to gray, purple and green. I like to take unfinished material like slate and, through a rather primitive process, create something that captures the viewer’s imagination”.
James Parker’s sculptures are designed and handcrafted in Scotland and are installed in some of the world’s finest landscape projects, both in the gardens of grand villas in central London, as well as on Highland estates, southern France, the Swiss Alps and North America.
James Parker’s sculptures are full of personality
Form is an important part of James Parker’s work and the simplest forms are the most satisfying because they are beautiful in their simplicity. If slate enchants with its texture, glass sculptures are a completely different story.
«Glass craftsmanship represents many opportunities. When choosing a medium, the material itself must add something to the sculpture. Glass adds another dimension. The difference between a stone sculpture and a glass sculpture is very simple, but it’s not something you would expect. Although the sculpture itself is permanent, the light is constantly changing. The uniform thickness of the material offers the possibility of adding some precision to the part«, says sculptor James Parker.
How to integrate sculpture into your garden arrangement
Whether you want it to be a statement piece that the entire space gravitates around or you want it to complement the design, natural stone or glass sculptures fit into any setting. Just take into account their size, because you don’t want a sculpture that takes up half your yard. Also pay attention to its design, to adapt it to the environment, because a glass sculpture does not adapt to a classic or even rustic decor. Before deciding which element you want to integrate into the garden, it is best to speak to a landscape architect who will tell you which elements you can integrate.
James Parker has several sculptures that are easy to integrate into your garden design, and among these are the slate sphere, slate apple, slate pears and other garden sculptures. James Parker is a self-taught sculptor who creates art for homes, gardens and public spaces, so contact him and start your design project.
